December 10 – Midwest Gingerbread House Competition
Over 100 competitors from local areas and around the Midwest will participate by building holiday wonderlands in the form of gingerbread houses. The event will draw hundreds of visitors to watch the challenge, as well as shop our vendors and holiday silent auction. Low-cost pictures with Santa will be available, along with fun activities for kids of all ages. Visitors and competitors will also enjoy holiday performances from local groups and hear presentations about homelessness and Aurora. December 2 - 4 – Christmas in New Harmony
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting kicks off the celebration followed by “Candlelight Glow” themed shopping parties, complete with wine tasting, desserts, and coffee on Church street starting at 6 p.m. Saturday consists of “Breakfast with Santa” and a “Main Street Parade”. Children’s activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, craft making, and photos with Santa.
A shopping and antique fair will be held inside the Ribeyre Gymnasium for Christmas shopping as well as the popular “Sweet Shoppe”, along with live music from The Shade Tree Players. Continue on to the Rapp/Owen Granary and you will find the Artisan Craft Fair, and later at Church and Main streets a live nativity scene.
