Tip of the month: Do not speak on what you don’t know. There are people working in the industry everywhere. If you say you’ve worked with somebody, have proof. If you say you’ve sold 10,000 CD’s have proof. No one gets signed by lying. In fact, that lie will ruin your name for good.

Machine gun rhymes, thoughtful family insight, gutta street action, hustle and skill… Just a few descriptive elements of BradleyT… A man who feels both sides of the fence.

"I’m from the home of the brave where we s’posed to be free, I’m from the home of the G.E.D., I’m from the home that’s full of methamphetamines OK, I’m from the home that’s full of HIV, I’m from the home where our government don’t give a s*#@, they try to keep us poor folk stuck on benefits. I’m from the, I’m from the, I’m from the home of the brave, I’d like to welcome all y’all to The USA." (from U.S.A. from his upcoming album)

It’s 16 bars ya’ll, and it’s time to talk to the red headed, truck driving, Busch Light drinking, country fan repping Jimtown.

It’s BradleyT y’all…

1st solo album drops in 2008.

N4U: A country music lovin’, truck drivin’, Busch Light drinkin’, red headed rapper? How does that work?

BT: I’m just a mutt that’s influenced by everything around me. If I like it. I like it. I’m not trying to fall into a category.

That being said. Describe your rap style.

I’ve been compared from Lil Whyte to Lil Wayne from Bone to Paul Wall… My style matches my life, part Midwest, part Texas… I try to mix it up and keep it real, keep it me.

A pro football player introduced you to freestyle?

He wasn’t pro then… We were twelve (in Texas), and he started spittin this stuff… And I thought it was cool. So I came back to Indiana and I just practiced and practiced. And when I got back to Texas I rapped for him and he was impressed & proud of me. So I just knew that’s what I was gonna do for the rest of my life.

Explain the difference between working with a group and being solo.

They’re both great. The only difference is there’s more me, and I don’t mean that in a selfish way, I just mean I have more freedom to explore a story.

Freestyle, booth, or stage?

Stage. Definitely. You’re on point or you mess up. You, the crowd, and that’s it… There WILL be an answer. Win, lose, or draw.

Do you remember your first show?

Cecil’s Bar in Jimtown. You gotta love it. You gotta start somewhere, and Rick gave me a shot, and I appreciate that.

What about your last show?

Boney June’s. Last Saturday.

What’s the difference between then and now?

My skills are better. My passion’s stronger. That’s about it. I just love doing what I do.

Tomorrow you wake up and you’re where you wanna be in life. Where are you?

On a stage.

What stage?

Wow… Hmmm… I don’t know. I suck at this… I’ve never really thought about it.

What do you mean you’ve never thought about it?

I really haven’t. I want people to understand and feel my music… But, I don’t know… I’ve thought about rollin around in a big nice Cadillac, but what stage? I don’t know… A huge sold out stadium…

You’ve recorded 3 albums with WBC, you’re recording your first solo album, you’ve been in music videos, and you’re starring in the upcoming movie People Music… What’s left to do?

Blow up! (laughs) No, actually, I hope this Powerball Ticket comes in tonight…
