So, what do you listen to on your way to work every single
morning? Yeah, Bob & Tom…They are funny and entertaining without being over
the top or gross. Takes a couple of classy guys for that… ha! Some of the best
known comedians have breathed life into their career by appearing on the
25-year-old nationally syndicated radio show that is broadcasted out of Indianapolis.
Bob &
Tom All-Star emcee and cast member took the time to call me up and chat about
the upcoming comedy tour. Things got a little out of hand as we chatted about
life, love and pursuit of shoes.
CM: Hey, how’s it going?
N4U: Well, we had an
earthquake last night…
So did we!
You did; it went all
the way up there?
Yeah.
I was in bed, what
were you doing?
Driving to work.
How did you feel it?
I was just trying to make a connection!
I felt the
connection. Really I did! Give me a rundown on the all-stars; I hear you are
the emcee this year.
I’m always the emcee. That’s all I do.
I thought it was Bob
Zany last year.
Oh yeah, but he doesn’t know what he’s doing…
Is he coming this
year?
I don’t know!
Do you know any of
the line up?
I don’t know!
How can you not know;
you’re supposed to be emceeing it!
When is it, May 3rd?
I don’t know!
What?
Yeah, it’s May 3rd.
Are you excited about coming to Evansville?
It’s the social event of the season. Geez, I haven’t been to
Evansville
since we were at the comedy club there.
The Funny Bone closed
down a while ago.
Yeah, there was always a guy who wore a white button shirt.
He thought he was Rick from Casablanca.
Hey, how long have
you been on the Bob & Tom Show?
Probably since the time you were born. 1986.
I am older than that!
I was born in 1982! THANKYOUVERYMUCH!
Hahahahaha! Yeah, 22
years.
That’s a long time!
Looks good on a resume though.
I left for six months in 1995 but I came back.
Is your real name
Chick or does that stand for something else?
Charles.
Why didn’t you go
with Chip or Chaz?
Because girls like ‘Chick’ better! I’m trying to hook up
with 25…26-year-old girls.
It’s workin’ for you!
My fiancé is on the
road every morning and listens to Bob & Tom religiously. He feels a certain
connection to you because he has like 90 pair of Nike shoes, and says you have
an extensive shoe collection too. What is your brand name and how many do you
have?
Any brand and about 360 pairs.
Wow, that’s a lot
more! You could easily wear one pair a day!
I’ve been doing it a lot longer.
Our basement is full
of these Nike shoes and he keeps the boxes. Do you keep the boxes?
No, I have shoe room though with lots of shelves! Look,
lady… What’s so *&%@$ wrong with having 360 pairs of shoes?! It’s my Peter
Pan syndrome…
Does Donny Baker
really call in or is he in studio?
He calls in from home.
Is Randy really his
boss?
Randy is really his boss. I know Donny will be there.
Will Greg Haun be
there?
I don’t know.
Is he really as
spastic in person as he is on stage?
No, he is pretty normal. Did you go last year?
Yeah, but people kept
getting up to go to the bathroom and get beer and kept spilling drinks on us
and climbing over us. But, once you get drunk enough you don’t notice anymore…
Hahaha! That’s true for most things. We get funnier if you
are drunk too!
Have you guys ever
considered taking the satellite jump?
We have so affiliates across the country we don’t want to
cut into their listenership and we are still waiting to see. The listenership
on satellite isn’t there yet. You can say anything you want on satellite radio
because, hell, no one is listening! Who knows what the future will hold, but
for now, no.
Who is the funniest
person, dead or alive?
Hands down, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.
What’s your favorite
thing to do on the road?
Sleep in at a hotel and get room service.
What are you going to
do in Evansville;
go out with a 26-year-old?
Hahaha! Weren’t you just talking about your fiancé?
He can come too!
I guess so! We have bars we go to pretty much everywhere we
go.
You’ll have to pick up
a N4U when you get here, so you’ll
know where to go…
Yeah, no kidding!
Last question: why
haven’t you guys found Kristie a husband yet?
We can only do so much…
