Bonnaroo Goes Green
Last year, we reported on Bonnaroo… the annual four day
music festival that, despite all the efforts of the good-intentioned people who
run the show, embraces all the elements any good music festival should
showcase: sex, drugs and rock-n-roll.
This year,
as most of the free world has made it a point to make damn sure everyone knows
how Earth-friendly and “green” they are – yep, Bonnaroo has gone green too! To
bring the point home, Bonnaroo offers at Solar Stage that, with the support of
Rock the Earth and NRDC, will feature an eclectic mix of dance, music,
environmental speakers and interactive entertainment.
That’s not
all the new age music fest offers; kids are now a welcome guest in the Bonnaroo
community. The Kids’ Jam will provide cool water, performances, earplugs and
even recycling art projects for the next generation.

I couldn’t
ever attend Bonnaroo simply because I couldn’t stand the “non-showering for
days” part. This year, you can get your hair washed and styled at the Garnier
Salon Power tent. That will surely freshen things up a bit…

Our favorite Bonnaroo story from an unnamed source:
I was driving back from Bonnaroo and I glanced in the rearview mirror;
I had a big henna tattoo of a spade on my forehead. Apparently, I had passed
out in the “henna girl tent” and they had painted me up. The worst part is, I
had to be in a wedding that day. I ended up going to the wedding and when I
walked in my dad just looked at me and shook his head. My brother said, “It
figures…”

Needless to
say, there are several improvements to this year’s Bonnaroo. But, what do you
really want to go for? Yeah, the music! Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jack Johnson,
Widespread Panic, Kanye West, Chris Rock, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Willie
Nelson, Death Cab for Cutie, B.B. King, Les Claypool, Ben Folds and O.A.R (just
to name a few) will be rockin the stage.
Tickets
start out at a mere $209.50 for the four-day pass and range to $244.50 plus
taxes and fees. RVs and campers are also welcome at Bonnaroo, but arrangements

It’s well worth a couple days off work and $250 bucks to head down to Tennessee and see some
remarkable entertainment. Oh, and if you go, we suggest leaving the
recreational hallucinogens at home…they really are cracking down…
