safety and security for children in the aftermath of a natural disaster. Scott

idea and it was a go.

LoCash Cowboys Perform to Benefit the Boys & Girls Club

"In every
community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and
companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at
home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that
someone cares about them.
Boys
& Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services
promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a
sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun.
They are truly The Positive Place For Kids." -The Boys and Girls Club
Even in a place like Evansville, IN, latchkey kids need a place to turn
to after the school day is over. My grandmother always used to say,
"idle hands are the Devil's tools," and that can be especially true
with young, impressionable minds and fingers in a world of drugs, sex
and violence. Luckily, like many communities, Evansville has been home
to a Boys and Girls Club since 1957.
Because of the shear amount of children in the area that currently and are also expected to utilize the B&GC, a new facility, the American General Financial Services Boys and Girls Club of America, is in order. The Boys and Girls Club just had the groundbreaking for the new building, which American General Financial Services contributed $500,000. There are two buildings the Club uses, serving 2,000 children. The new center is located in an area that has 4,300 children within walking distance, so the numbers of users is expected to double immediately.
Though American General Financial Services has donated $500,000 to the
project, other fundraising campaigns will be taking place to help
offset some of the costs of the buildings, and what better way to raise
money than with a night of music, dancing and fun.
For one night only, the LoCash
Cowboys, will be performing at the

Katie Proctor, an employee of Boys and Girls Club of
Evansville, feels that LoCash Cowboys will be a great way to get the word out
about the excellent programs offered the Boys and Girls Club as well as raising
funds for the new facility.
“In the past, when the LoCash Cowboys would come to Casino Aztar’s Hoosier
Lounge, we would go down and see them play. I thought this would be fun
fundraiser,” says Proctor. “They are wonderful with
their fans and they have been great to work with on this event. Plus, they put on a great show. Preston (Brust)

The LoCash Cowboys have a huge repertoire of music. “LoCash
Cowboys do have their own music, including the hit "Boom Boom," but they also play
everything from Fifties all the way to Eighties music like AC/DC – they play something for everybody. That
is one thing LoCash prides themselves on; a different sound,” Proctor says.
LoCash Cowboys are not new to this area or benefit
concerts. Giving back to the community is a big part of who they are. LoCash
has worked with Tanya Tucker, appeared on national television, and performed at
the 2007 Country Music Awards after-party, and have toured every state in the
continental U.S. Yet contributing back to the community remains important.
“Our community involvement is crucial to who we are as
people. We were both raised in caring, loving and religious families who taught
us the value of giving back. As entertainers, we have the opportunity to make
people laugh and smile. Nobody should be laughing and smiling more than kids.” For more of the LoCash bio go to www.locashcowboys.com.
The concert is August 22 at Casino Aztar Events Plaza and
you must be 21 to enter. The gates will open at 7 p.m. and the concert starts at 8.
