Booker & Sarah
President Bill Clinton and (Maybe future President) Mrs. Clinton
Jason spoke with the President and his wife at separate times and played the popular segment, “Know Your Mate” with each of them. To hear the audio, visit hot96.com. Here is how it all went down in Jason’s own words:
We’ve been bombarded with interview requests.
At 1:15, I was having lunch at Subway with my wife Jessica. I got a call from the Clinton Campaign. Would I be interested in interviewing President Clinton today? Excitedly I say, “UH…YEAH!” Could I be ready in 20 minutes? “…Oh.” It’s amazing how quickly excitement can turn into terror.
I love interviewing people. I do it everyday. It’s just part of my nature. It’s how I get to know people. At 1:16 my stomach was feeling a little queasy. I shouldn’t have gotten double meat on my club sandwich.
I’m driving back to Hot 96 when my phone rings. It’s our promotions director Falen Bonsett. She says, “You’re gonna love me!”
“I already know about the Bill Clinton interview, I just set it up. I’m on with him in 20 minutes,” I told her.
Falen replied, “Are you serious, because I just booked Hillary Clinton for your show in about an hour!”
Queasiness can be measured on the Richter scale. In college, I was in a band called “Exponential Queasiness.” That is not true.

Jason Addams: In your relationship with Hillary, who said ‘I love you’ first?
President Clinton: I did.
Hillary Clinton: Oh, gosh, he asked me to marry him, and I couldn’t make up my mind to marry him, but I think we fell in love at the same time. What did he say, what did he say?
JA: He said he loved you first.
JA: And where was your first date?
PC: Our first date was kind of an impromptu thing,
where I took her to the
HC: Well, our first date was taking a long walk in
JA: Now, in a word, how would Hillary describe you the first time she met you? She’s just getting a sense of you and a word pops in her mind. What do you think she’d say?
PC: Unusual. First time she heard me I was talking
about the watermelon growing in
HC: Uh, persistent, I don’t know.
JA: Mr. President, do you have a favorite sport?
PC: Oh, I do, I like to play golf; to watch, I like college basketball.
HC: Basketball.
JA: What was the coolest thing about being President, Mr. President?
PC: The thing I liked about it I suppose was the job. Next to that, the best thing was, nearly anybody would come to perform for you. Since I like all kinds of music, the best thing was that you could hear anybody play or sing in the world, and you didn’t have to leave home.
HC: Air Force One.
JA: Oh, that’s not what he said, although I agree with you. He said, asking any performer, rock band or otherwise to come to the White House and they’d play for you.
HC: Well, that’s true too, that’s obviously a big perk, but he’s often said that the one thing he really misses is Air Force One!
JA: Well, you got three out of five, so we’re going to send you a Hot 96 T-shirt now because you won!
HC: Oh, you’re so nice, that’s great. Thank you so much Jason, say hello to your family for me.
Jason Addams is the Program Director at Hot 96 and can be heard weekday
